Photography is fun. There is no doubt. Capturing the image you envision is immensley rewarding. But then there is the work of it, which is still fun, but there exists a danger of the monotonous. I'm still fairly new to the game, so shooting anything I can is still exciting.
I've been taking a lot of head shots lately. Corporate head shots, real estate agents, and professionals here in Southern Oregon. And, while the lighting and setups tend to be similar, the people are not. The ability to relate and bring out the best smile, emotion, or look is the challenge. Each person has a great unique story, or they are at least trying to write one. And everyone is dying to share that story. If you're genuinely interested in that person and their story, it will reflect in the photograph.
It's this human element that makes head shots a joy to take. The picture I get to create for them is part of their story, so I try to make it the best one I can.
